Pre-PAP Conference Workshop Set the Stage for 45th International Conference of Pakistan Association of Pathology

The Department of Pathology at UMDC Faisalabad organized a Pre-PAP Conference workshop on September 25, 2024, as part of the 45th International Conference of the Pakistan Association of Pathology and the 10th Joint Conference of Societies of Pathology. Guest speakers Dr Tania Jabbar, Principal Scientist, PINUM Cancer Hospital, Faisalabad and Dr Fakeeha Rehman, Head of department of pathology Faisalabad Medical University graced the event.

The event included participants from various institutions of Faisalabad physically and via zoom link online. The session started with histopathological slides of clinical cases from MTH which were explained by Professor Dr Shazia Aslam as an insightful discussion.

Dr Tania Jabbar delivered her words of wisdom on the topic of “advantages and limitations of AI in diagnostic pathological cases from different sites”. She highlighted the role digitalization, its benefits and shortcomings.

Professor Dr Fakeeha Rehman shared numerous cases with unexpected results under the title of “Critical alerts in surgical pathology perceptions and expectations.” She held the audience into an interactive session on how to pick and communicate about the alerts in surgical cases to improve quality assurance and patient wellbeing.

Later, Mr Tariq Saleem, Laboratory Manager, Clinical Laboratory and Blood Bank, Madina Teaching Hospital gave a brief introduction about the facilities being provided in the laboratories according to the new state of the art international guidelines.

In the conclusive session, Prof Dr Shirza Nadeem vice Principal UMDC & Head, Department of Forensic Medicine UMDC and Dr Mubashra Naz, Additional Medical Superintendent MTH & HOD Gynecology & Obstetrics paid their special thanks to the speakers and participants. They also honored the guests with souvenirs and participants with certificates.
