STRIDE’25: Innovation in Medical Education

STRIDE’25, a symposium on Teaching, Research, and Development of Innovation in Medical Education, was organized by the Department of Medical Education, UMDC, in collaboration with the Medical Women’s Association of Pakistan (MWAP).

The symposium featured a national research competition showcasing 44 oral and poster presentations from across the country, along with insightful talks by five leading figures in Medical Education. Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, President CPSP and Vice Chancellor FJMU, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Eminent keynote speakers included:

  • Dr. Wajiha Rizwan, President MWAP, who shared a roadmap for female doctors to navigate their careers.
  • Prof. Dr. Shamsa Humayun, Senior Vice President MWAP and former VC FJMU, who spoke about the challenges of clinical research.
  • Prof. Dr. Bilquis Shabbir, Dean of Undergraduate Studies at FJMU and Vice President MWAP, who discussed burnout, its impact, and strategies to manage it.
  • Prof. Dr. Mahwish Arooj, Principal UCMD and SVP MWAP, addressed the issue of bias in healthcare and methods to overcome it.
  • Prof. Dr. Waris Farooka, Principal of Sargodha Medical College, delivered a captivating session on the use of simulation in surgery, encouraging students to think outside the box.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal inspired students to take pride in their profession and their country, urging them to serve with passion and courage. He also paid tribute to the Pakistan Army, acknowledging their continued contributions to the nation’s security.

Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal awarded certificates and cash prizes to all winning participants.

In the vote of thanks, Prof. Dr. Akram Malik, Principal UMDC, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Department of Medical Education, ARC Society, and the students who made the event a success.
