UMDC Celebrates Pakistan’s Independence Day with Student Activities

A vibrant and patriotic Independence Day Celebration was organized at the University Medical & Dental College to commemorate the Independence Day of Pakistan. The event provided students with an opportunity to express their patriotism and showcase their creativity and talent through various activities.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Faisal Bilal, Vice Chancellor, Faisalabad Medical University, as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. Aman Ullah Malik, Rector, The University of Faisalabad, attended as the Guest of Honour.

A key highlight of the celebration was the Digital Poster Competition on the theme “Hidden Gems of Pakistan.” The competition aimed to highlight lesser-known Pakistani personalities who have made significant contributions to the country and deserve greater recognition.

Digital Poster Competition – Position Holders

  • 1st Position: Izza Eman, 4th Year, who presented Parveen Rehman as a “Hidden Gem of Orangi Town,” highlighting her remarkable contributions to community development and social welfare.
  • 2nd Position: Bareera Saleem, 3rd Year MBBS, who presented Dr. Saleemuzzaman Siddiqui, highlighting his significant contributions to science and research in Pakistan.
  • 3rd Position: Ayesha Zafar, 1st Year BDS, who presented Miss Saima Saleem, Pakistan’s first blind diplomat, highlighting her inspiring achievements and service to the country.

The celebration also featured an Independence Day Painting Competition, providing students with a creative platform to express their love for Pakistan through art.

  • 1st Position: Shamaim Zia, 3rd Year MBBS
  • 2nd Position: Rohma Idrees, 3rd Year MBBS
  • 3rd Position: Faria Naz, 4th Year MBBS

The event was further enriched by melodious performances of Milli Naghmay and patriotic songs, creating an atmosphere of national pride and enthusiasm. Two inspiring speeches were also delivered, highlighting Pakistan’s independence, national identity, civic responsibilities, and hopes for the future.

The celebration concluded on a positive and patriotic note, highlighting Pakistan’s rich heritage, remarkable yet often overlooked personalities, and the creativity and talent of its young generation. The event served as a meaningful reminder of the sacrifices behind Pakistan’s independence and the collective responsibility of citizens to contribute to the country’s progress and prosperity.
