UMDC Honored Academic Excellence at the 10th Convocation Ceremony

The 10th Convocation Ceremony of the University Medical and Dental College was held with grandeur, presided over by Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman Board of Governors, UMDC, who was nominated for this esteemed role by the Governor of Punjab. Prof Dr Amanullah Malik, Rector TUF graced the event as the chief guest, while Dr Muhammad Abbas, Controller of Examinations at the University of Health Sciences Lahore, served as the guest of honor.

Oath taking ceremony of the 17th batch of MBBS and the 13th batch of BDS with a total of 222 medical graduates, comprising 176 MBBS students and 46 BDS students, was held where the new batch of graduating doctors had their degrees conferred upon them. UMDC recognized academic excellence with several awards, including the prestigious Salim Gold Medal, which was awarded to 12 graduates. 9 graduates received the Mukhtar Silver Medal, while 98 graduates were honored with the Amin Bronze Medal for their outstanding academic performance.

The ceremony was further attended by Principal of the Medical College, Prof Dr Muhammad Akram Malik, Vice Principal Prof Dr Shirza Nadeem, Principal of the Dental College, Professor Dr Arsalan Wahid and other distinguished faculty members and heads of departments. The event also saw the presence of proud families of the graduates who gathered to celebrate this significant milestone in the student's academic journeys.

Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, congratulated the graduating students and acknowledged the dreams realized by both the graduates and their families. He expressed his admiration for the unwavering support the students received throughout their educational journey, stating, "Today is the day when your dreams, and those of your parents, come true, as they have always supported you in this pursuit of education." He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to UMDC doctors and faculty, recognizing their crucial role in shaping the future of these outstanding professionals and contributing to the institution’s success. Addressing the graduates, he emphasized that UMDC has fulfilled its promise to the nation by preparing doctors of the highest professional standards.

Prof Dr Aman Ullah Malik, addressed the graduates, stating, "This country has given you a lot, and now it is up to you to decide what you will give back to your nation." He extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their families for reaching this significant milestone.

Dr Muhammad Abbas congratulated the graduates on their special day and urged them to not only excel in medical profession but to also focus on developing other essential skills for their professional growth. He further admired UMDC for its continuous success in producing skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals, acknowledging the institution's commitment to excellence in education.

Prof Dr Akram Malik, addressed the audience, stating, "Today, we celebrate not only the achievements of our medical graduates but also the tireless efforts of our faculty and staff who have nurtured these bright minds. To our future doctors, as you step into the professional world, remember that your knowledge and skills are a responsibility to serve humanity with compassion, dedication, and integrity”. Prof Dr Arsalan Wahid, addressed the gathering, saying, “Today is a proud moment for our dental graduates. It’s a reflection of their hard work, commitment, and passion. After years of dedication and learning, they are now ready to make a difference in the field of dentistry and contribute to the health and well-being of their communities”.

The proud smiles of parents reflected the fulfillment of their dreams. The ceremony concluded on a high note, leaving the graduates inspired and ready to embark on their professional journeys, carrying forward the legacy of excellence and service nurtured at UMDC.
