The orientation session for the 17th batch of BDS was held at the University Medical and Dental College on March 4, 2024. The auditorium echoed with enthusiasm as the inauguration ceremony began. It was not just an introduction to the campus but a key to unlocking a world of possibilities, knowledge, and personal growth. After donning their new white coats, presented by the second-year students, fresh entrants recited the Oath, pledging allegiance to the medical profession, their companions, and seniors, and were urged to prioritize their duties towards their patients.
The guests of the event included Honorable Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman BOG, Ms Zahida Maqbool, Registrar TUF, Prof Dr Arsalan Wahid, Principal Dental (UMDC), Prof Dr Aamir Ali Choudhary, Principal UMDC, Brig (Retd) Dr Munir Ahmad, MS MTH and esteemed faculty members.
The event commenced with a warm welcome note by Ms Zahida Maqbool setting the tone for an exciting and enriching journey for incoming students. She presented a brief introduction to Madina Teaching Hospital and UMDC to newcomers. She clarified that over the next few days, you will embark on a series of activities designed to familiarize you with UMDC, its values, and the diverse community you are now a part of.

Throughout your time here, you will face challenges to refine your skills and seek inspiration from your mentors. Treat patients with compassion, understanding, and an unwavering commitment to do your best. Remember that we are here to empower you. As you don your white coat today, remember the responsibility and privilege that come with it. That will be a constant reminder that you are supposed to serve humanity and make a difference in the world. Congratulations on taking steps toward your dream career!
Mr Muhammad Haider Amin said in his speech, 'I would like to tell you that you are embarking on a new journey in life. I just want to give you some advice, as it is all about making smiles for me. Treat your patients with compassion and dignity, as you are the ones who will take care of them. Here, every day, you will get the chance to learn about new experiences by observing and treating different cases.
Orientation day also included valuable feedback sessions from current students, providing insights into their experiences at UMDC. Additionally, alumni messages were shared, shedding light on their transformative journey and UMDC's impact on their professional lives.
