Professor Dr. Tahira Iqbal is working as HOD, Department of Biochemistry and Director of Advanced studies and research in The University of Faisalabad (TUF). She served University of Agriculture, Faisalabad for more than 33 years as a teacher and researcher, guiding the research to the post-graduate students. She graduated from Government College, Multan in 1981. She completed her M.Sc. (1986), M.Phil. (1988, Silver medal recipient) and Ph.D. (1994) in Biochemistry from the Department of Chemistry, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. She did one year post doctorate from University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA. She has experience in biochemical and some pharmaceuticals analysis (HPLC) and conversant with animal experimentation. Her major interest has been in the biodisposition, renal handling of pharmaceuticals and pharmacogenetics. She joined the Department of Chemistry, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in 1987 as lecturer of biochemistry, was promoted as Assistant Professor in 1999, Associate Professor in 2004, and Professor in 2007. She served as Chairperson, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (2009-2012), and Department of Biochemistry (December 2018 to April 2021). She served as Member Syndicate (3 years), Member Finance & Planning committee (3 years), Member Graduate Studies and Research Board, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, and as member Selection Board (GCWUF from December 2019 to date). Prof. Tahira has so far produced 09 Ph.D., 105 M.Phil.and 96 M.Sc. research students as major supervisors. She has won and executed 05 research projects as P.I. and Co-P.I. She has published 97 research papers in international and national journals and has also presented her work in national and international conferences. She has been working as a reviewer of research grants, international and national research journals. She has been working as external examiner in International and national universities for PhD, MPhil and MSc theses viva. She is also a recipient of the Research Productivity Award (RPA) by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST), Star award for Education for the year 1997 (South Asia Publications) and “Medal of Honor” for the 2000 Millennium” (American Biographical Institute, USA). She has been member of many national and international professional societies.
