Dr.Komal Atta is a graduate of Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad. She is winner of the prestigious National STAR gold medal ( 2001) , recognizing extracurricular achievements and has been an accomplished Debater at National/International level and stellar student throughout , also earning Distinction from the University of New South Wales in languages and sciences.
After MBBS , Dr.Komal pursued her MPhil in Physiology ( Silver Medal) from UAF and Masters in Medical Education (MME) from the University of Lahore (Distinction).She is also a certified Instructional Designer (CODE-UHS/CorTeach) and educational mobile app/gamification expert (McMaster University ,Canada).
Dr.Komal is an accomplished researcher ,reviewer and member of many editorial boards; as well one of the top five social media influencers of Medical Education in the world. She has the distinction of being the only Pakistani Doctor to be featured as an invited author on both the Harvard Medical School Community Blog of Harvard University as well as Nature Careers part of the Nature journal (IF=49.926).
Her work in Medical Education has been widely read and applied throughout the world as evidenced by numerous awards and stellar collaborations such as a collaborative work on faculty development with Gulf Medical University and Ain Al Shams University and a research grant by the Talloires network (Harvard and Tufts University , USA) . She is also the selected representative for a WHO project on development of an E-learning course for the EMRO Region; Nominee of UMDC( The University of Faisalabad) for UNESCO transformative education forum , Representative of UMDC/TUF in National Curriculum Committee Optometry. She is also the Head of UniLearn Pakistan, part of the UniLearn Medical Education international group which facilitates in providing Medical Education experiences from top rated international experts.
Over her career at UMDC from 2016 to date, she has received many awards, nominations and accolades including “ICME 2019-Best Researcher Award”, “Best Online Teacher Award” 2020, “Best University Teacher Award” 2021, Nominee for HEC Best University Teacher Award 2021, AMEE 2020 Social Media Influencer of the Year; AMEE 2021 Social Media Influencer of the Year, one of the Top 5 in the world IMU RHIME (Ronald Harden Innovation in Medical Education) Award nominees and a distinctive nomination in AMEE Conference 2021 for the Merriam Friedman Ben Keener Award for upcoming Medical Educationist. ‘
She is also the shortlisted candidate from Pakistan for the “Global recognition of influential leaders-Education Sector” by Education and Learning Visionaries , UAE for 2022.
